When our kidneys stop functioning then we need other therapies to clean the toxins in our blood. Hemodialysis is one such method in which blood is passed through an artificial filter and harmful byproducts like urea, creatinine, potassium and water are removed.

Hemodialysis is a safe and painless procedure. The first session takes about 2-3 hours, during which patient can relax on a couch which blood is passed through the machine and filter. The patients may feel mild dizziness in the initial period but once excess acid is removed from the body, their appetite and health gets better.

Every patient and his condition is different, which finally decides their life span. With effective dialysis, healthy diet and regular visits to your doctor, patients can survive even up to 5-8 years and lead a normal life.
